Coleco Talking Teacher Circuit Bent User Manual

A brief guide to get you started making experimental music/mayhem with your Coleco Talking Teacher.

With all switches in the off position (down or to the outside) and the pitch control all the way counterclockwise, turn the unit on, when the screen reads alphabet or count, hit the <enter> key,

it will either start saying the alphabet or prompt you for level. If level is prompted simply press a, b, c, or d. and then press <enter>.

Your unit will start speaking and you can then start flipping switches, adjusting the pitch control, working the loop to create some very strange and interesting new sounds.

The switch on top above the photo-cell is the opto-pitch on/off. It’s ON when set towards you.

The switch on top next to the pushbutton is the LOOP, its ON when set towards you. Flip it on and then use the button to advance thru the possible loop sounds.

The switches on the left hand of the face are Beat Loop, Fuzz, Glitch 1, Glitch 2.

Try flipping on a glitch and pressing different keys on the membrane touchpad for strange random sounds.

The metal contact to the left of the screen is pitch control touch it vary the pitch.

The button above the pitch knob the right side is sound mute when pressed in.

The knob beside the output jack is volume control.
Try using other modes of play for different glitches.

There’s no right or wrong way to play, simply have fun finding new experimental sounds.

This is a very simple introduction as to the new controls, experimentation and some experience will help you master the Bent Talking Teacher.
